Maryland

Game note – Lost to Illinois. I thought they had good athletes but.. Maryland athletes.. not Georgetown athletes.  Also, their freshman center was solid but got in foul trouble. All in all, solid defense not bad on offense – actually good when the big is in – but seemed young and one step off really good. If they make it, they will need a good matchup.

Gottlieb notes on ACC: They need to show they can win on the road, and then we shall see how their backcourt handles the Duke pressure on the road. Jordan Williams is the best big man in the league. Hands down.

Misc Note: The Purdue Boilermakers don’t have any trouble shutting down opponents. In fact, Matt Painter’s squad has yet to allow 70 points in a game this season thanks to the second-most efficient defense in the country behind Maryland.

Jordan Williams had 21 points and 15 rebounds as Maryland picked up a 74-63 road win at Georgia Tech. It was his fourth 15-rebound game of the season, as he improved to 11.9 rpg, third in the nation. Maryland went 0-for-6 from 3-point range in that win in Atlanta. That meant the Terrapins’ streak of 409 straight games with a 3-pointer came to an end. This season’s Maryland squad is averaging only 4.4 3s per game, which is tied for 322nd in the nation
