Princeton

Vs Harvard: Princeton runs their typical offense and they start a grizzled group. They have one big, Maddux,  that comes off the bench and displays some athleticism. Beyond that, their bigs were slow, unathletic, and looked like a group who probably have 3.8′s. Guard wise, their point guard is small and couldn’t get his own shot off but didnt turn it over. Other than Maddux, I also liked their guard Mavriades. A “baller” with some good-plus skills. To counter balance some of their unathleticism, I did not see them really shoot the three ball well. They were decent, but not lights out.

My take: This was not an impressive team at all. I had to really try hard to see anything that I liked. Their bigs will be eaten alive by any athleticism. Their guards were primarily ball handlers. I am so intrigued by how Vegas would respond to this team given (A) the Cornell effect – Cornell was NOT your typical Ivy team. Will people associate the Ivy League with them – mistake! (B) the Princeton effect – whereby folks fall in love with the Princeton offense. Mistake! This team is not even close to Cornell’s level and while they do run the Princeton offense, they get games into the 70′s verse athletic teams. This is not the 43-41 offense that helped #13 Princeton beat #4 UCL A a decade ago. All that said, verse a good team (think Temple) they lose are plus or minus 6. Verse a good mid major team (think Illinois) they lose by 7 – 15. Verse a really good team (think Kentucky) They will lose by over 12 and up to 25.
